Swim School Staff


We realize the quality of our programs depends on the quality of our instructors. For this reason, our instructors are chosen based on their qualifications, communication skills, patience, and love for children. Our structured training program ensures that each student receives the finest hands-on instruction available. Regardless of their age or skill level, students will discover that continuous interaction with our warm and caring instructors develops trust and stability both in and out of the water. We are pleased to give our swimmers a qualified team of experienced, mature professionals who are devoted to making a positive impact on their students.

Aaron L.

Aaron began swimming at the age of nine. He played water polo for three years in high school, including one year as Team Captain and two years as MVP. He swam competitively all three years as well, earning MVP one year. Aaron has previous experience as a swim instructor, working with children ages 3-16 for one summer. He also volunteered as a summer and winter camp counselor for four years. Aaron is excited to share his passion for swimming, and help his students grow and become strong swimmers. He currently attends the University of Phoenix to study Business. When he is not at work, Aaron enjoys playing water polo and being outdoors!

She started swimming at the age of 9. She swam for club teams for 7 years, and she eventually swam for her high school’s swim team. Her favorite events are the 200 yard Individual Medley and her favorite stroke is the butterfly. Alexandra gained experience working with children as a lifeguard at Knott’s Soak City for 2 seasons. Alexandra is currently studying Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations at Cal State University of Los Angeles.When Alexandra is not in the water she enjoys dancing, playing the guitar, and hiking. An interesting fact about Alexandra is she can hold her breath underwater for two 25 meter laps.

Ali has been swimming since the early age of 5. In high school she became captain of her swim team and played competitive water polo. Ali joins Waterworks Aquatics with 2 years’ experience teaching swimming lessons. She also has an extensive background as a nanny, working with children of varying ages. Her favorite aspect of teaching swimming lessons is being a part of her students’ progress.

She learned to swim at a young age and began swimming competitively at age 8. She continued to swim in high school where she was named Team Captain her senior year. Her favorite events were the 100 yard Backstroke and 500 yard Freestyle. Amanda gained experience working with children ages 6 to 13 as a summer camp counselor. In college she worked as a nanny, and upon graduation she volunteered at AmeriCorps and City Year, an education based non-profit. Amanda recently graduated from State University of New York with a degree in Anthropology. A few of Amanda’s hobbies include hiking, cooking, and knitting. An interesting fact about Amanda is she loves to travel and has been to 19 countries.

Angel learned how to swim at the age of eight, and loves spending time in the water. He joined the water polo and swim teams his senior year of high school. His first year on the swim team Angel was awarded Team Captain and his relay team made it to the city finals! Angel gained experience working with children previously as a lifeguard and a swim instructor, where he taught children ages three through six how to swim. His favorite thing about teaching swim lessons is seeing smiles on his students’ faces when they master a new technique. Angel is currently studying Kinesiology with focus on Exercise and Human Performance at California State University of Los Angeles. A fun fact about Angel is that he was the second fastest swimmer on his swim team!

He started swimming at age 4 and began swimming competitively at age 9. Anthony gained experience working with children of all ages as a summer camp leader and a babysitter. His favorite part about teaching swim lessons is being able to teach his students a lifelong skill. Anthony is currently studying Business at Glendale Community College. A few of Anthony’s hobbies include running, hiking, and watching sports.

His favorite part about teaching swim lessons is seeing his students learn a skill that could be potentially life-saving. Arthur is currently studying Communications at Pasadena City College. A few of Arthur’s hobbies include snowboarding, biking, reading, working out, watching movies, and wake surfing. An interesting fact about Arthur is he loves to play video games.

His favorite part about teaching swim lessons is having fun with his students and seeing them smile when they accomplish a goal. Brian is currently studying Kinesiology at Glendale Community College. A few of Brian’s hobbies include football, basketball, and swimming. An interesting fact about Brian is he loves Pokemon.

She started swimming at 2 years old and swam competitively until the age of 13. Her favorite stroke is the Freestyle. Briana gained experience working with children ages 3 months to 12 years old as a babysitter. In addition, Briana worked with children ages 3 to 10 years old as a leader at a Spanish camp. Her favorite part about teaching swim lessons is helping her students improve and getting to know her students. Briana is currently studying Public Health at California State University of Northridge. A few of Briana’s hobbies include volunteering, dancing, and playing basketball.

Chris joins Waterworks Aquatics with a background in Lifeguarding. He also has spent time teaching children theatre and dance. His favorite aspect about teaching swimming lessons is building connections with his students and helping them achieve their goals. Chris is currently attending PCC to major in Kinesiology. During his free time, he enjoys dance, theatre, and video games. An interesting fact about Chris is that he used to dance at Disneyland and California Adventures.

She first learned to swim at age 3 and she swam competitively on the Fullerton Intermediate Swim Team. Her favorite stroke is Freestyle. Danielle gained experience working with children of all ages as a babysitter. Her favorite part about teaching swim lessons is seeing her students excitement when they learn a new swim skill. Danielle is currently studying Child Development at Fullerton College. In her free time Danielle enjoys spending time with her family. An interesting fact about Danielle is she is a type one diabetic and has overcome several challenges in her life.

Eva learned how to swim when she seven years old, and swam competitively for seven years. Freestyle is her favorite stroke and she enjoyed swimming in any event that included Freestyle. Eva gained experience working with children through volunteering at a summer camp for special needs children ages three through seventeen. She also volunteers at a summer school program that works with high school students, helping them get on track for graduation. Eva has a passion for teaching swimming lessons because she loves to see her students’ excitement as they achieve a new goal. She is currently studying Nursing at Pasadena City College. A fun fact about Evangelica is that she loves sharks and giraffes!

Fergus joins Waterworks Aquatics with 6 years of competitive water polo experience and 1 year of competitive swim team experience. His two strongest strokes are freestyle and breast stroke. Fergus has been working with children of varying ages all his life. He has been a Boy Scout leader for 7 years and spends his summers as a camp counselor running an assortment of outdoor activities. In addition, he has helped young children improve their skills in water polo and improve their swimming technique at his local swim and water polo club. He enjoys teaching swimming lessons because he likes seeing his students’ proud faces when they accomplish a new skill. An interesting fact about Fergus is that he loves learning and experiencing the beauty of nature.

Franklin started swimming at the early age of 4. When he was 13, he joined a swim team for 2 years at a local recreational park. Franklin began babysitting for family friends during his early teenage years and spent his summers working for Summer Kids, where he led up to 50 children in both arts and crafts. His favorite thing about teaching swimming lessons is being able to teach in a variety of ways to accommodate his students needs. Franklin attends CSULA to focus on Civil Engineering. During his free time he enjoys playing the guitar, running, and watching football. An interesting fact about Franklin is that he is always full of energy and charisma and never has a dull moment.

Hannah learned how to swim at a young age. She gained experience working with children through babysitting and volunteering at a daycare. Her favorite thing about teaching swim lessons is that she loves to see the excitement on her students’ faces when they perfect a new skill. Hannah currently attends Pasadena City College and is studying Childhood Development.

Isaac began swimming as a young child and would often take family trips to the local pools, beaches and waterparks. He started working with children his freshman year in high school through a variety of volunteer work. After high school he continued working as a youth sports coach and after-school recreation leader, where he also gained experience working with autistic children. Isaac previously worked for the city of Downey where he helped develop the youth athletics programs and after-school classes. His favorite aspect of being a swim instructor is developing relationships with his students and helping them achieve their goals, while having fun in the water. An interesting fact about Isaac is he is one of the oldest cousins in his family and has two younger sisters.

Jhonathan

He grew up at the beach and has always enjoyed swimming and surfing. Jhonathan has gained a lot of experience working with children by volunteering at summer camps and babysitting. He looks forward to seeing his students learn how to swim! Jhonathan is currently attending Pasadena City College to major in Fire Science. In his free time Jhonathan enjoys mountain biking, skating, surfing and pole vaulting.

She started swimming at age 17 and she swam on the varsity swim team her senior year of high school. Her favorite stroke is the Backstroke. Julia gained childcare experience as a preschool teacher’s assistant for children ages 3 to 8, and she has also worked at the Disney Store. Her favorite part about teaching swim lessons is seeing her students excitement when they learn something new or improve on a stroke. Julia is currently studying Nursing at Citrus Community College. When Julia is not in the water she enjoys hiking, being outdoors and being active. An interesting fact about Julia is she loves to think of herself as a mermaid in the water.

Julius began swimming at age 13 and he swam competitively for two years. His favorite events are the 50 yard Freestyle and the 50 yard Breaststroke. Julius gained experience working with children ages 4 to 16 as a babysitter of 5 younger cousins. His favorite part about teaching swim lessons is teaching his students a skill they will use for the rest of their lives. A few of Julius’ hobbies include watching movies, playing video games, drawing, and eating pizza. An interesting fact about Julius is he loves Star Wars and Super Mario.

She first learned to swim at age 5 and she has enjoyed swimming ever since. Junelle gained experience working with children of all ages as a youth leader at church, a babysitter, and the oldest of 11 siblings. Junelle is currently studying Kinesiology at Pasadena City College. A few of Junelle’s hobbies include rock climbing, hiking, exercising, and singing. An interesting fact about Junelle is she is a Disney and Marvel fanatic.

He started swimming at age 5 and has continued to swim ever since. His favorite event is the Individual Medley and his favorite stroke is Butterfly. Justin gained experience working with children of all ages as a babysitter. He has also worked in his family’s restaurant and Toys R Us. His favorite part about teaching swim lessons is seeing his students excitement when they accomplish a new skill. Justin is currently studying Biology at Cal State University, Los Angeles. A few of Justin’s hobbies include cars, video games, reading, crocheting, and hiking. An interesting fact about Justin is he loves watching Marvel, Disney, and cartoon movies.

She has experience babysitting children ages 4-12 and also was a tutor for 2 years, where she assisted children in elementary school with their homework. Krystal began swimming at the age of six and her favorite stroke is Freestyle. She enjoys creating connections with her students and seeing their excitement once they have accomplished a goal. Krystal attends Pasadena City College to major in Nursing. In her free time she enjoys listening to music, sewing, gardening, and baking. An interesting fact about Krystal is she loves animal and insects!

He began swimming when he was 5 years old and started swimming on competitive teams at age 12. He also was on the swim and water polo teams throughout high school. Kyle’s favorite stroke is the Breaststroke and his favorite event is the IM. His experience working with children includes previously teaching swimming lessons to children ages 4 and up. Kyle’s favorite aspect of being a swim instructor is passing on the joy and fun of being in the water to his students. Kyle is currently attending Pasadena City College and is majoring in Entertainment Design. When Kyle is not working, he enjoys playing video games and watching cartoons!

A few of Lesley’s hobbies include swimming, exercising, and baking.

His favorite part about teaching swim lessons is interacting with his students and teaching them valuable, life-saving swim skills. Manuel is currently studying Child Development at Rio Hondo College. When Manuel is not in the water, he enjoys playing basketball and soccer.

She learned how to swim at an early age and perfected her technique while on her high school’s swim team. She swam on the varsity team for 2 years and her favorite stroke is the breast stroke. Megan gained childcare experience as an after-school teacher for children ages 5 to 13. She has been a lifeguard since 2005 and was a Waterfront Director and an Adventure Team Member for the YMCA – Camp Sequoia Lake. Recently, she was a preschool student teacher where she planned curriculum, observed students, and evaluated behaviors. Megan graduated from University of La Verne with a Bachelor of Science, Child Development degree. When Megan is not in the water she enjoys hiking, reading, and karaoke.

Peter joins Waterworks Aquatics with 5 years’ of previous swimming instructor experience. He has been swimming since before he can remember, but became more active in his swimming development after working as a lifeguard. Butterfly is his favorite stroke. Peter has experience working with children ranging from 2 ½ years old through adults. While growing up, he enjoyed helping out his family by babysitting his baby niece and younger cousins. His favorite aspect of teaching swimming lessons is being able to help his students accomplish their goals and seeing their confidence grow.Peter is studying English Literature at St. Mary’s University. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer, writing, and art. An interesting fact about Peter is that he and his friends enjoy creating comedy sketches.

Regan learned how to swim at age 2 and swam competitively from age 6 to 8. In high school she swam for two years, and was named co-captain of the Varsity team. Her favorite events are the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke. Regan gained childcare experience through babysitting children ages 2 to 12. She also has worked as a tutor for children ages 6 to 8, as well as students at her high school. Her favorite part about being a swim instructor is learning new things from her students, while her students are learning from her. When Regan is not in the water she enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, writing, and gardening.

She has childcare experience from previously working as a swim instructor with children ages infant and up. Sandra learned how to swim at a young age, as she grew up with a pool in her backyard. Once she joined her high school’s swim team junior year, she began swimming competitively and also decided to join the water polo team. Sandra continued to swim and play water polo for two years while in college. Her favorite events were long-distance: 200-meter, 500-meter, and 1 mile. Sandra’s favorite aspect of being a swim instructor is passing on her knowledge and love of swimming to her students. Sandra is attending CSULA to major in Kinesiology with a focus in Rehab and Therapeutic Exercise. When she is not at work she enjoys olympic lifting, swimming, hiking and anything Disney!

Tevin is currently studying Biology at Cal State University, Los Angeles. A few of Tevin’s hobbies include watching anime, going to the movies, hiking, going to the zoo, and playing video games.

Vicki has always loved the water and continues to swim whenever she gets the chance. She has a heart for children and enjoys teaching Sunday school class. She is studying at Pasadena College so that she can one day be an elementary school teacher. In her free time, Vicki love going to the beach and watching movies.
