“Eva and Kyra are 4yr old twins. Prior to classes they were unable to swim at all. It was difficult to coax them out of the baby pool or swim rings. They started twice weekly swim lessons with Ally. Ally has a great personality and the girls loved her. She was very skilled at handling their fears and occasional tears. One girl is more athletic and learned faster, but Ally was able to adapt to their different personalities. They now can love swimming in the adult pool. Good bye baby pool and swim rings!”
“My favorite swim school!! I LOVE Waterworks! I have tried 3 swim schools in the past 2 1/2 years (since my son was 4 months old) and Waterworks is the place we are going to stay. Thanks to Waterworks, my son is almost 3 and can swim without any help at all from one end of the pool to the other. Waterworks offers everything you would want.....Indoor heated pool, private showers, helpful and friendly employees, and great instructors. ”
“My son started lessons again this year when he was almost 8. He had a bad experience at a different school a couple of years ago and has been terrified (literally) of putting his head in the water. We started with Tina who had a gentle nature and got him comfortable and then moved to Greg who was more firm but still very supportive. In no time, Chris was swimming the length of the pool, diving off the side, swimming to the bottom to pick up rings and asking if he can keep going even after summer is over. At the beginning of the summer, I wasn\'t sure if that was possible.
My 4 year old daughter, my stubborn one and master negotiator, also began with Tina and moved onto Megan who is also firmer. She too is now going the lengths and loves the water and is even getting WOW awards.
I would also like to commend Vanessa and the rest of the staff. She was there to help support the teachers, give a little extra one on one time with Chris and Jamie, and find us the right people. Essentially, she was determined we would have a good experience and my kids would learn to swim. Waterworks has achieved that and more.
My experience is that while this is a business, their primary goal is to get kids to swim, enjoy swim and make sure everyone (including parents) have a positive experience!
Finally I will say the facility is clean, the staff is very friendly, the computer system is great for managing classes and the quality of instruction is superior.”
“My son Connor has been attending Waterworks Aquatics since he was 10 months old. Now at 2 yrs, 2 months old he can swim independently half the length of the pool!! I have friends who take their children to other swim programs and they are amazed at how much Connor learns at Waterworks! The facility is clean, the water is always warm, the front office staff is helpful and the instructors are wonderful! We feel very grateful for Waterworks Aquatics for all they have done!!”
“As our children have gotten older, we have been to numerous swim schools (3 in all), and Waterworks Aquatics is by far, the most SUPERIOR swim school we've attended. The facility is OUTSTANDING with its multiple pools to accommodate all ages (we should have started with them 5 years ago--I wouldn't have had to change schools) from infants to adults. The numerous shower stalls available to rinse off and change (privately) are an added bonus. The monthly swim meets are a lot of fun, and I am always amazed at how such young children can swim with so much skill, not to mention the older children who are equally impressive. But most important, the teachers are EXCELLENT (many of them still swim competitively) and the office staff is AWESOME--personable, warm, friendly and accommodating to our needs. My son insisted for so long that he cannot float on his back ("because [he'll] sink") but with gentle persuasion and positive reinforcement from the teachers AND the staff, not only is he floating, he's on top of the world! I started taking my kids to swim school years ago with the intent to "just get them water-safe." After a year and a half at Waterworks, I continue to go week after week because my kids simply LOVE IT and watching them...so do I.”
“Our family has been using Waterwoks for almost a year, and we are extremely happy with the results! My 4 year old son has gone from not knowing how to swim to swimming all 4 strokes and joining Nova swim team. My daughter who is 7 has overcome an intense fear of the deep end to a love for the pool and has also learned all of the strokes and joined Nova. Christine is a superb instructor; no nonsense but kind, strict but sweet. She gets the kids to focus and squeezes every last second out of that 20 minutes! The kids love swimming in the play pool after and splashing around. The meets are very well-run and award every participant a ribbon which is a great motivator for new and newly competitive swimmers. Your swimmer gets a trophy when she/he has received a certain # of ribbons- my son got his first one today and was so proud he said, "Mommy, this feels like a dream!". I don't believe there is a better place to learn to swim or ”
“ I have been taking my two girls to Waterworks since August. I cannot even express how happy I am with this swim school. Before Waterworks we were attending Australian Swim School for over a year and before that we went to Water Safe. I feel that my girls have progressed so much more in the last 3 months then they did in the past year and a half. The instructors are very professional and are determined to have the students achieve their best and still have fun. It has seemed to me in other swim schools they keep students in the same level for a very long time so they can make more money. At that point, the kids start getting bored and lose their confidence since they are still not able to swim at all but have been doing the same thing over and over in the past year. Therefore it becomes more of a business and less about the kids. Also, I love that the facilities have (showers, hair dryers etc) and my girls love the free play time that they have in the pool either before or after the lesson. The bonus licorice at the end of class for the kids is yummy! Overall, I feel that my kids have made a great progress and I am really happy with this swim school:) ”
“My daughter has been taking lessons at Waterworks for about 2 1/2 months. She has taken lessons at other places and actually acquired bad habits, which was corrected once she started her lessons here. If you really want your child to learn the correct form and strokes, this is the place. Another thing I love is that you can choose your instructor that matches your child's personality. All the instructors seem very well trained, but each one has a distinct way of teaching. My daughter started with one instructor who was highly recommended to me by a friend, but after few lessons, I realized that although she was a great instructor, she didn't match very well with my child. They were very nice about matching her with a new instructor and she's been excelling with her new instructor. He's very sensitive to her needs, yet teaches her all the things she needs to know to improve her strokes. She loves her instructor and she can't wait to get into the team. I'm really glad that I found a sport that my daughter really loves. Thank you Waterworks!”
“My daughter has been to countless swim lessons at a variety of swim schools and has never learned to swim properly until she attended lessons at Waterworks. Due to my work schedule I was unable to see her practice until about 6 weeks after she initially started. Her improvement is nothing short of a miracle. I would recommend Waterworks Aquatics to anyone looking to have their kids learn to swim or merely perfect their strokes.”
“My child has been taking classes for three months here, and he now can swim. Before that he was very afraid of water and we were actually reluctant to attend swimming party as he won't enjoy it. That changed since he attended lessons at Waterworks. His coach, Mike, is very friendly. He is great at making my kid relaxed. Mike is also very patient in teaching him; and on the same time pushes my kid to do better and better and makes him confident about himself. His effective teaching is a key part of my kid's fast progress, which is above my expectation.
The facility is here is also wonderful.
I highly recommend this place! ”
“I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Waterworks Aquatics and how happy of a customer we are. We have tried one other swim school and toured another as well before learning about Waterworks. Waterworks is far better for several reasons: the consistency and method of teaching, the quality of teaching, the warm water, the ease and options of scheduling, the large and clean facility, the patience of the teachers, the shower/changing rooms, and much more. Most importantly, you can tell each teacher is definitely handpicked and trained to teach kids to ease the fear they initially have about water. We have been taking lessons for a little over 2 years at Waterworks. My child is only 3 years old and is completely water safe in a pool!”
“My 8 year old daughter has taken 6 weeks of stroke clinic classes this summer and we have seen remarkable improvement. I had no idea she would be swimming with such confidence so quickly. She really loves coming to swimming and is begging us to continue throughout the year. Her instructors have been very supportive and encouraging while providing excellent instruction. Additionally, the staff at Waterworks has been so helpful and accommodating. They have been a pleasure to work with. I'm impressed that everyone is so organized and professional. Our experience has been fantastic. -Thank you!”
“At the age of 57, I decided that it was time to take swimming lessions. I have been taking water aerobics classes here, but was afraid to be in the deep end of the pool or put my face in the water. Now, after 6 lessions, I can swim with my face in the water, roll over to a floating position and exercise in the deep end of the pool. My instructor understood my fears and her knowledge, dedication and commitment to me proved that learning is possible with the right teacher. The facility prides itself on having a clean environment with showers, changing rooms, lounge chairs in both their indoor and outdoor areas. Waterworks Aquatics is the perfect place to learn, swim, exercise and have fun doing it. ”
“Our grandchildren have been taking lessons for the past 6 months and we are very impressed with what they have learned and how fast they have learned it. Instructors are very good with kids of all ages. Front desk staff is always helpful and friendly. We have tried other lessons and this is by far the best for the money. Thanks to you all at Waterworks. ”
“ The part that impressed me the most is how organizes everything is in Waterworks. From checking in for lessons to class scheduling to swimming competitions. It is quiet amazing how well they handle the swim competitions with hundreds of participants. And it is also a great way to motivate kids swimming. My daughter has been taking lessons there for 5 months now and is working on getting her first trophy. As far as what I have observed, all teachers are very good with kids. I have seen crying first timers and teachers always made the lessons fun for them to overcome the fear. And teachers are always on time. Also I often see the owner and management team around to make sure things are done right. That shows how much they care! Mike was our first teacher and he was awesome and made my daughter love swimming. Her current teacher, Julian, teaches her the perfect strokes. He pays attention to her strokes every single second and she is progressing very fast. The only place that needs a little improvement is the shower rooms that could be sanitized more frequently. Over all we are very happy there. ”
“ I found Waterworks Aquatics, from a mom's group that I belong to. They have 4 pools, 3 of which are indoors. The pools are all saline and kept super duper warm. There were some other places that I found closer to home, but I really liked that the pool was indoors and they didn't use chlorine. The whole place is really warm and I don't have to worry about sunscreen. We've gone four times so far, and my daughter (1 yr old) loves it. ”
“ Our 4-year-old daughter has been taking lessons for a little over a year now. Shea is comfortable in the water, she can confidently swim from one side of the pool to the other unaided and, most of all, she enjoys her lessons. Pool time at home is much more safe, enjoyable and instructive thanks to all the skills she has learned. Her instructor is wonderful as he bravely tolerated bawling and screaming during the early sessions and now has his hands full with a child who wants to play around as much as practice. We could not be happier, and we are confident this will give our daughter the foundation for a lifetime of fun, safe and rewarding activity in the water. ”
“ My daughter is in competitive swim and we first learned about this place from our friends whom we met at another swim school. Both girls were enrolled in an Anaheim Hills swim school's swim team program and were entered in non-competitive swim meets at a Tustin swim school. When that Tustin school swim meet season ended, we were told about Waterworks as a place for our girls to continue swimming non-competitively during the winter months. In September 2009, my daughter entered her first swim competition at Waterworks. Unlike our experience at the two other swim schools, we were really impressed with the facility and with the speed that the swim competitions were held. A week after that non-competitive meet, my daughter had her first USSA meet at NOVA. While she did OK and placed OK as a 6 year old, I knew that she needed some extra work on her strokes to get her to the level that she wanted to be at. I ASKED HER, and it is always her choice, what level she wanted to be at. She said she was OK with her placement at the NOVA meet but really wanted to improve (this is a translation of what she said to not reveal her identitiy :) ). I had a choice in the schools that I could send her to. I could send her back to the place where she learned, but that was out because the pool is too small and the instructors style did not match my daughter's competitive nature. The Tustin school was out too. As much as my daughter liked the swim meets held there, the pool was still too small. For her to get the edge and race on the same level as the girls that she is competing, it was important that she also learn in the same length pool that she works out in 3 -4 times/week at AAA. I spoke with Katie and I explained the situation to her. I frankly did not know what I needed and I needed something that had the most impact in 4 weeks because that was when her next meet was. She suggested a semi-private lesson with an instructor to really help her with her butterfly and breaststroke. We got Julian for the first set of lessons. Within 4 weeks, we saw a difference in her strokes and she had more confidence, placed a bit higher in her events and started to shave some time off. After a couple of months, Julian's schedule changed and we started with David. My daughter has really improved with David. Julian ironed out the rough spots and David is really working with her on strategy. I have disclosed to her coach that we are working with a private instructor on the weekends so messages get passed to David from her coach on things that she needs to work on. It has worked out excellently. If David is not available, we know that we can see Julian and Jess and still get the same excellent instruction. In the 6 months since the initial lesson, my daughter is now placing at the top of her age group and this came at a great time with the JO MAX series of meets this past winter. People see my daughter swim and the first question they always have is how old is she. The next is how long has she been swimming. I tell them the answers and they are shocked by both (6 years old, swimming for almost 5 years). And then the conversation about competitive swimming ensues. I do recommend Waterworks, hands down every time. Without the office staff who steered me in the right direction and the great instruction, my daughter would not be doing as well as she has been. So, in case I have not said it enough, thank you, thank you, thank you. ”
“ Today was my 2 year old son's first swim lesson. I was really impressed by the staff and facility at Waterworks. His teacher (Vanessa) was sweet and knowledgeable and did a really great job. The water is super warm and they let the kids have a little free play before and after the class. The mommy and me class only had about 6 kids and they all got quite a bit of attention from the teacher. I am really excited to have my son learn to swim at Waterworks. ”
“ Our 3.5 year old daughter has been attending semi-private lessons with Christine W. since Dec. 08. She is now swimming all 4 strokes and recently received her first participant trophy at the monthly swim meets they held. Never, did we expect that our 3 year old would/ could participate in swim meets, let alone with other 3 & 4 year olds. She can swim all 4 strokes at the meets at 25 yd. length as well as the 50 freestyle. I love the facility overall. It's impressive with it's 3 indoor pools (1 at 25 yrds), and it's beautiful 25 yd. outdoor pool. What's nice about the indoor section is that all of the walls can be retracted and often are if the weather is nice, so you're not constantly asphyxiated on the smell of chemicals. They have recently upgraded their locker rooms and showers which could still use some detail work. The staff is very helpful and learns the names of the family members and students, creating a welcoming feeling each time we visit. We LOVE our daughter's teacher. She is very much all about business and will keep your child focused, crying or not. Our daughter needed a firm instructor and Miss Christine was PERFECT for that. In my opinion, learning the swim skill shouldn't be roses all the time, as this skill could save a life. With that said, our daughter looks forward to her lessons and has fun in the water at home, and while on vacation. We are expecting our 2nd child soon, and I am hopeful to enroll her in their program as soon as she's able. Waterworks: Keep up the Great Work! P.S. I recommend keeping a stack of event sheets out (at front desk and timing table) during meet days. It's always so busy and I hate to interrupt staff when I could just grab one a go, I'm sure other spectators would benefit from this as well... ”
“ This swimming school is the best. We tried other swimming schools, but this one actually teaches the children to swim. It is not on the "slow" program, so the value is there for the parent's budget. The staff is professional. ”
“ Great swim school. Very professional and dedicated instructors. The kids love going there and swimming in the play area after class. The monthly swim meets adds a great touch of pride to their hard work. Best of all is that they learn water safety and how to swim- So everyone is happy! ”
“ My kids have been going to Waterworks for 2 years now as a fun way to play in the pool and learn valuable water safety techniques. They instructors have been GREAT! They are not flakey, we have had maybe 2 lessons canceled, but always because of illness and to be honest, if they are sick, I don't want them to give it to my kids! It is pricey, but I do believe you get what you pay for. At Waterworks, it is certainly worth it! ”
“ Our family has been attending Waterworks Swim School once a week for almost five years. Our son Hayden started at the first course offered called Parents and Me Lessons when he was 4 months old. Since then he has advanced through the Advanced Parent and Me Lessons onto the semi-private lessons. By the Advanced Parent and Me lesson phase at around 2 Hayden had already mastered floating on his back and began to work on his swimming technique. We now feel very comfortable around water knowing Hayden has the ability to swim and float on his own and is aware of hazards surrounding a pool. Hailey our two year old daughter has advanced to the Intermediate Parent and Me Lessons floating well, but is still working on gaining her confidence in the water. She has been attending the Parent and Me Lessons since she was six months old and appreciates going swimming each week in the warm pool seeing her favorite instructor Courtney. As parents that have had pools since our childhood and lived within 10 minutes of the ocean our entire life we believe strongly in the skills taught through Waterworks in Irvine and their instructors. Having the utility of multiple pools that are always heated provides Hayden and Hailey the best of learning environments. Waterworks provides a great education while in a fun environment and always has our children's best interest at heart. ”
“ My daughter Andrea has been attending Irvine Waterworks Swim School for the past 8 months. She has participated in group and individual lessons. We are very happy with her progress. The instructors at Waterworks are professional, disciplined, knowledgeable and self motivated to provide the best experience possible for the students. The attendance of Andrea's instructor has been commendable. 8 months of twice weekly lessons she has only once not been present and this was capably dealt with well in advance of the lesson. Administrative staff is polite, competent and backed up with specialized / state or the art computer systems which makes the process more efficient for everyone. The facility is large, clean, modern, well planned and full of amenities over and above the 4 swimming pools. The jewel in the 'Waterworks Crown ' is their monthly swim meet. This meet accommodates swimmers from entry to expert level. It is planned, organized and executed superbly. All swimmers are awarded ribbons and trophies. Times and performance for all participants are tracked on the Waterworks website. This is an excellent and efficient way for parents and children to monitor performance and progress in the pool. Parents and children love it! Thank you Waterworks for providing Orange County with a great aquatics facility. ”
“ Waterworks is a great place for kids of all ages to learn to swim. I started my daughter Katy when she was just over 4 months old. She has always been a *very* active baby and needed something fun to do and swimming lessons have really fit that bill. She loves the warm water, watching the other kids, splashing with mommy, and really enjoys her lessons. The teachers are very personable, are great at dealing with kids of all ages including those that are screaming bloody murder during the lesson! While my daughter has always enjoyed swimming I've watched many other kids start off crying and screaming and within maybe 3 or 4 lessons become confident happy little swimmers... or at least scream a lot less! I would recommend this facility to any parent(s) interested in helping their kids learn to swim in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. ”

“ I love this place. I have had my girls going here for 2 years now, and they love it, and they have learned a lot. My younger daughter started at 3, and was signed up with David as her instructor. He was able to handle her perfectly, and we had really been worried about her shyness and communication disability. At first she cried, and didn't want to swim and reached for us, but he calmly told us to walk away and wait in the parent's room so she couldn't see us. We did, and within minutes he had her laughing and putting her face in the water. She adores him, and within a couple of lessons was doing a perfect back float. After only 9 months of one time a week lessons, she is swimming across the pool and even participating in the swim competitions. I researched a lot of facilities. I visited a few, and priced them all. This was by far the best facility I found, and their pricing structure, though it seems expensive, is actually very competitive and cheaper than some far inferior schools. The pools are warm, and in good condition, and the kids enjoy it. Plus, all the instructors are on the same page, using the same methods, and they know what they are doing. This is far better than the high school kids at a summer camp or something. This is structured, methodical teaching, made fun for the kids. It also has availability that works with working parents' schedules. I drive significantly out of my way to keep my kids in this program, because it is worth it. I have, and will continue, to recommend this school to all my friends. ”
“ Have had my daughter in countless swim lessons with a variety of different swim schools and instructors, and she never learned how to properly swim until she had Julian as an instructor at Waterworks. Because I work, I didn't get to see her practice, until about 6 weeks after she started. Her improvement was nothing short of a miracle. Julian is an outstanding instructor, and I am grateful that he taught my daughter (finally!!) to swim. I would recommend Waterworks, and particularly Julian, to anyone looking to teach their kids to swim or merely perfect their strokes. ”
“WOW!!! CONGRATULATIONS TO TRINA. She is absolutely correct. I not only take the Water Aerobics Class on Mon & Wed with her, but I also work with her every day. Since her lessons at Waterworks, her teachers and the staff continue to encourage and uplift her. I have seen such a change in her. THANK YOU to all the wonderful staff that make up that center. You make it a delight to come and exercise.
“We have been taking private lessons at Waterworks Aquatics twice a week since June 2004. Our daughter Kaitlin was 4 years old when she started lessons and could not swim at all. Through her instructor’s combination of focus, discipline, and humor, she is now swimming freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke. We appreciate the professionally managed operations of the entire facility and like the family-friendly amenities: from the family lounge to the snack bar, to the indoor covered pool and outdoor Jr. Olympic pool. We have tried many swimming schools and instructors in the area but felt most at home with Waterworks Aquatics.”
“My child has been taking lessons at Waterworks Aquatics since the doors opened last year. She was 2 ½ at the time. She went from screaming and crying to loving the water. Her instructor is compassionate and very thorough. Through her guidance, my child has learned confidence and almost can swim by herself. Waterworks Aquatics is close to my home and always has new swim ideas and great equipment. The staff tries to accommodate each person’s needs.”
“My children have been taking lessons for a year and they love it. Within 3 lessons, they made a lot of progress now they are great swimmers! Waterworks Aquatics is clean and inviting and the instructors are patient and personable with each child. My children especially love the warm water. It is always difficult to get them out of the pool because they love it here.“
“ My son has been taking swimming lessons since he was 2 years old – he is now 3. The progress he has made has been amazing. He went from not putting his face in the water to diving for rings. We have been with our instructor for about 6 months and her gentle yet firm approach in the private lessons has made my son excited about coming to swim with her. I have always found Waterworks Aquatics a fun, friendly, and clean environment. It is a place both parent and child can enjoy!“
“My daughter Nicole has been taking lessons since June 2004 and has progressed steadily with every lesson. She had never learned how to swim before so at first, she was apprehensive until her instructor guided her through every lesson. I highly recommend the instructors and the school to parents who are serious about their children learning how to swim using proper techniques in a clean, safe environment.”
“My son Alex has been taking lessons at Waterworks Aquatics since November 2004. Alex’s stroke has improved since he began taking lessons here. I like the observation room at Waterworks Aquatics, where I can stay with my infant while Alex is in swim lessons or on the swim team. I like the swim team here at Waterworks Aquatics because there is no pressure for the kids to participate in the swim meets. Alex’s instructor has been great at focusing on Alex’s strokes and the swim team coach, really spends time getting to know the kids on the swim team.”
“My child has been taking lessons at this facility since it opened. He was very timid in the water and cried at times. Now I have to fight to get him out of the pool. He is very close to swimming on his own. My son is now confident in the water.”
“My child has been attending Waterworks Aquatics since June 2004. Her skill level has improved dramatically as well as her confidence level and love for the water. Her instructor has proven to be caring and fun and he has the right balance of structure and flexibility. The facility and warm water make this swim school a great year-round option. I have referred many of my friends to Waterworks Aquatics.”
“My daughter is 3 years old and she is scared of water, she used to scream when I take her to the pool. I thought of trying a class at Waterworks and the teacher convinced her to do the back floating within 1 class without any screaming. I took her to the Lagoon at Woodbridge that weekendand she went into the water alone and started playing which she never did before. I am very happy to see my daughter confident in water. We enrolled into the classes for 6 months. I would rate this as the best school I have ever seen.”
