Swim School Staff

We realize the quality of our programs depends on the quality of our instructors. For this reason, our instructors are chosen based on their qualifications, communication skills, patience, and love for children. Our structured training program ensures that each student receives the finest hands-on instruction available. Regardless of their age or skill level, students will discover that continuous interaction with our warm and caring instructors develops trust and stability both in and out of the water. We are pleased to give our swimmers a qualified team of experienced, mature professionals who are devoted to making a positive impact on their students.

Abiel

San Jose

Abiel learned how to swim at a young age, and continues to enjoy swimming recreationally. He gained experience working with children through volunteering at his church’s childcare program, where he worked with children ages five through ten. His favorite thing about teaching swimming lessons is making sure his students have fun while learning a lifelong skill. A fun fact about Abiel is that he was the fastest sprinter at his school!

Alejandro

San Jose

He has been swimming for about two years and Freestyle is his favorite stroke. Alejandro gained experience working with children ages 4 to 6 as a preschool volunteer. In addition, Alejandro has worked as a babysitter for children of all ages. His favorite part about teaching swim lessons is interacting with his students and watching them build confidence in the water. Alejandro is currently studying Biology at De Anza College. A few of Alejandro’s hobbies include running, reading, swimming, and listening to music. An interesting fact about Alejandro is he has seen Avatar: The Last Air-Bender five times.

Anabel

San Jose

She taught herself how to swim at the age of 10 and her favorite stroke is backstroke. Anabel helped raise her youngest sister and has been babysitting since the age of 14. Her favorite aspect of being a swim instructor is watching her students apply corrections to their stroke and succeed on their own. Anabel currently attends San Jose City College to major in English. In her free time she enjoys painting, dancing, and hiking. An interesting fact about Anabel is she likes goldfish!

Anthony

Gilroy

Anthony learned how to swim when he was five years old and his favorite stroke is the Freestyle. He swam competitively in high school for both the swim team and the dive team. Anthony gained experience working with children through babysitting children ages two through seven. His favorite thing about teaching swimming lessons is instilling confidence in his students that the water is a fun place rather than something to fear. Anthony is currently studying Music at Gavilan Community College. A fun fact about Anthony is that he loves to sing and play guitar!

Caitlin

San Jose

She joins Waterworks Aquatics with 10 years of childcare experience from babysitting children as young as 6 months old. Her love for the water came at a young age after taking swimming lessons as a child. Caitlin’s favorite aspect of teaching swimming lessons is sharing the love she has for swimming and seeing her students overcome their fear of the water. Caitlin is attending West Valley College with a focus on Biology. During her free time, she enjoys playing roller hockey and video games. One interesting fact about Caitlin is that she always gives it her all no matter what the challenge may be.

Cedric

San Jose

Cedric learned how to swim at the age of seven, and his favorite stroke is Freestyle. He gained experience working with children through coaching and supervising a middle school football team and a track and field team. His favorite thing about teaching swimming lessons is being able to teach children an important life skill. Cedric is currently majoring in Administration of Justice at Evergreen Valley College. When he is not in the pool, Cedric enjoys working on mechanical projects!

Corina

San Jose

She is a self-taught swimmer and has enjoyed swimming her whole life. Corina gained experience working with children as a mother of two. She also has experience working with children with special needs as her younger sister has special needs. Her favorite part about teaching swim lessons is seeing her students excitement when they do a skill set correctly. Corina is currently studying at Silicon Valley Education Foundation. A few of Corina’s hobbies include spending time with her children, reading, practicing the guitar, and going to the gym.

Cori (Corinna)

San Jose

Cori learned how to swim when she was two years old and has loved the water ever since. She gained experience working with children through being a nanny, teaching acting at summer school, and babysitting younger family members. Cori’s favorite thing about teaching swimming lessons is the confidence swimming brings to her students. A fun fact about Cori is that she went to circus school for a year!

Curtis

Fresno

Curtis has always enjoyed swimming. One of his favorite strokes is Backstroke. He has worked with children of all ages. He started babysitting for his younger siblings at a young age. As the oldest, he had a to learn very quickly. What he enjoys most about teaching swimming lessons is being able to observe how fast his students pick up all of the new skills and the progress they make during each lesson. Curtis is currently attending San Jose City College and is studying Nursing. Some of his hobbies include collecting records, exploring new foods and traveling.

Enya

Modesto

Enya learned how to swim when she was fourteen years old and her favorite stroke is Backstroke. She competed on both the swim team and water polo team in high school, where she rose to the varsity level because of her talent in Backstroke and Freestyle events. Enya gained experience working with children through being a teacher’s assistant at elementary schools. Her favorite thing about teaching swimming lessons is passing on her love of the water to her students. Enya is currently studying Radio, Television, and Film at San Jose State University. A fun fact about Enya is that she loves the San Jose Sharks Hockey Team!

Erwin

San Jose

Erwin learned how to swim when he was seven years old and his favorite swimming events are the 200 IM, 200 Freestyle, and the 100 Backstroke. He swam competitively throughout high school and rose to team captain his senior year. Erwin gained experience working with children through babysitting and being a teacher’s assistant for the dance department. His favorite thing about teaching swimming lessons is helping his students grow a passion for the water and become strong swimmers. Erwin is currently studying Child Development at San Jose City College. A fun fact about Erwin is that he loves turtles and he owns four redneck turtles names Rocky, Shylow, Mikah, and Luna.

Francisco

San Jose

He began swimming at age 15 and swam competitively throughout high school. Some of his favorite events include the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, backstroke in the 200 medley relay, and he often was the anchor in the 200 freestyle relay. He gained childcare experience through babysitting children between the ages of 2 and 5. Francisco’s favorite part about teaching swim lessons is when the children begin to love swimming as much as he does. Francisco is currently studying Business Marketing at DeAnza College. When Francisco is not in the water he enjoys watching sports and anime, biking, and playing video games.

Grecia

Gilroy

Grecia began swimming at the age of ten and some of her favorite strokes include Butterfly and Freestyle. Grecia swam competitively for two years during high school and received a Varsity Swim certificate. Grecia gained experience working with children of all ages as a babysitter for the last fourteen years. Her favorite part about teaching swimming lessons is being able to see as her students progress and become better swimmers. Grecia is currently attending Gavilan College and studying Natural Science. During her free time she loves to go on hikes, travel, watch movies and go on walks.

Itzel

San Jose

Itzel began swimming at the age of three and has loved the water ever since. She has worked with children of all ages as a babysitter and a dental assistant. Her favorite part about teaching swimming lessons is interacting with her students and watching their confidence grow as they come in for their lessons. Itzel is currently attending De Anza College and majoring in Business. One of her hobbies would have to be photography, she really enjoys taking pictures of her family and friends.

Jackie (Jacqueline)

San Jose

She first learned to swim at age 4 and she has enjoyed swimming ever since. Jackie gained experience working with children of all ages as a Lifeguard at Raging Waters. In addition, Jackie has worked as a teacher’s aid and a babysitter. Her favorite part about teaching swim lessons is creating a bond with her students in the water and watching as they progress.

Jeileen

San Jose

Jeileen began swimming at the age of three and has enjoyed swimming ever since. One of her favorite strokes is Backstroke. What she enjoys most about teaching swimming lessons is being able to interact with her students and watch their improvement each time they come in for lessons. Jeileen has worked with children ranging from one to eight years old. She has been babysitting for over seven years. She is currently attending San Jose City College where she is studying child development. In her free time she enjoys swimming, shopping and exploring new places.

Jessica

San Jose

Jessica has been swimming since the age of three. She swam competitively throughout high school. Her favorite stroke is Butterfly and her favorite event is the 100m Butterfly. Jessica has worked with children ranging in age from six to sixteen years old. Her background includes working for the YMCA, Boys & Girls Club of Richmond, and Rocket Ship Elementary. What she enjoys most about teaching swimming lessons is being able to bond with her students and watch their swimming skills grow. Jessica is currently attending San Jose City College and studying Business. Some of her hobbies include training in Muay Thai and riding motorcycles.

Jerry

San Jose

Jerry learned how to swim at the age of eight. He gained experience working with children of ages one through thirteen while working at his local Community Center and volunteering at Anderson Elementary School. His favorite part about teaching lessons is he being able to work with children and helping them improve their swimming techniques. Some of Jerry’s hobbies include playing soccer and going on long walks.

Judith

San Jose

Judith has been swimming since the age of eight. She swam competitively during her junior year in high school where she won a relay race as the anchor in her team in a tournament with ten other high schools. What she enjoys most about teaching swimming lessons is building confidence in her students and helping them overcome their initial fears. Judith is currently attending West Valley College where she is studying Communications. Some of her hobbies include drawing, painting, camping, hiking and swimming.

Karina

San Jose

Karina learned how to swim when she was six years old and took swim classes in high school to perfect her strokes. She gained experience with children through babysitting and volunteering as a camp counselor. Her favorite thing about teaching swimming lesson is the knowledge that her students will carry these lessons with them for the rest of their lives. Karina is currently studying Early Childhood Development at De Anza Community College. A fun fact about Karina is that she loves to Rollerblade!

Karla learned how to swim when she was six years old and has loved the water ever since. She gained experience working with children through babysitting ages six months and older. Her favorite things about teaching swimming lessons are the daily laughs she shares with her students and the excitement on their faces as they improve in their technique. Karla is currently studying Law Enforcement at De Anza Community College. A fun fact about Karla is that she loves Disney movies!

Her favorite aspect of teaching swimming lessons is being able to make a connection with each one of her students. When she isn’t working, Karla enjoys spending time with her friends.

Phillipines

Kayezel began swim at the age of fifteen and has enjoyed swimming ever since. One of her favorite strokes is Backstroke. What she enjoys most about teaching swimming lessons is bonding with her students and their families. During her free time she enjoys reading and helping others.

Kristina

Santa Clara

Kristina is a self-taught swimmer who began swimming at the age of five. She has worked with children of all ages. In a previous position, she looked after children and kept them engaged in fun activities. What she enjoys most about teaching swimming lessons is being able to provide her students with a fun experience while teaching them the fundamentals of swimming. Kristina is currently attending San Jose State University where she is focusing on child development. During her free time, she enjoys playing around with her dogs and spending time with her family and friends.

Leila

San Jose

Leila began taking lessons at the age of five, and realized her passion for swimming when she was in high school. She swam competitively for three years in high school and was named most improved swimmer. One of her favorite strokes is Freestyle and some of her favorite events include the 100 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke and the Individual Medley relays. What she enjoys most about teaching swimming lessons is being able to work towards the progress and needs of each individual swimmer. Some of her hobbies include hiking, cooking and traveling.

Leilani

San Jose

Leilani has been swimming since the age of 6 and swam competitively throughout San Jose and the Bay Area. Her experience includes triathlon participation. While employed at Planet Snoopy, Leilani gained experience working with children of all ages. She was able to interact with many children and help keep them safe on rides. During her free time, Leilani enjoys hiking and camping.

LIzzette

Glendale

Lizzette started teaching herself how to swim at the age of ten. She has worked with children ranging from six to twelve years old. She started out as a babysitter and later began working at her local YMCA where she helped students with their homework and engaged in youth development activities with them. What she enjoys most about teaching swimming lessons is spending time with her students. Lizzette is currently attending San Jose City College where she is focusing her studies in the Medical field. For fun, she enjoys singing, playing sports, hanging out with friends and spending time with her dog.

Luke was taught how to swim at the age of five by his father. One of his favorite strokes is Backstroke. His favorite aspect of teaching swimming lessons is working with children and helping them get over their initial fears. Luke has been around children his whole life. Growing up as the big brother, he was always looking after his little brother and helping him with his school work. Luke is currently attending San Jose City College where he is studying Psychology. Some of his hobbies include reading and swimming.

Makala

San Jose

She learned how to swim at age 4 and has been swimming ever since. Makala previously competed on the USA Swim Team, as well as her high school swim team. Makala gained experience with children ages 3 months to 13 years while working as an assistant at her mother’s day care center. Her favorite part about teaching swim lessons is interacting with her students and seeing them progress. Makala is currently studying Sociology at Foothill Community College. A few of Makala’s hobbies include playing field hockey and watching Scooby Doo.

Mari (Marianna)

San Jose

Mari learned how to swim when she was four years old and her favorite stroke is Freestyle. She gained experience working with children through babysitting ages three months through twelve years. Her favorite thing about teaching swimming lessons is the knowledge that she is teaching a new lifelong skill. Mari is currently studying Law at De Anza College. A fun fact about Mari is that she loves to watch cartoons!

Maritza

San Jose

Maritza began swimming at the age of eight and one of her favorite strokes is Freestyle. What she enjoys most about teaching swimming lessons is watching her students progress and helping them learn a skill that they can use throughout their entire life. Maritza has worked with children of all ages. She started out babysitting her younger cousins and then volunteering in her younger sister’s kindergarten class. She helped supervise the children, set up activities for them and served snacks. She attends San Jose City College where she is studying Sociology. When she is not swimming she enjoys hanging out with friends and family, watching movies, cooking and working on arts and crafts.

Mary

Wheaton, Illinois

Mary has been swimming since the age of four, and she has been working with children for over fifteen years. She started off as a babysitter, and later became an instructional aide assisting a special education teacher with teaching math, language arts, science and art to students ranging from age four to fourteen. Her favorite part about teaching swimming lessons is helping her students enjoy and feel confident in the water. In her spare time, she enjoys camping, hiking, swimming, reading and traveling.

Michaela

San Jose

Michaela began swimming at the age of four and has been swimming ever since. She has worked with children of all ages. With a son of her own and cousins, nieces and nephews that she grew up babysitting, she has many years of experience working with children. What she enjoys most about teaching is watching her students accomplish their swimming goals. For fun, she enjoys spending time with her son and going on adventures with her family.

Nallely

San Jose

Nallely has been swimming since she was 10 years old. She swam competitively for two years in high school. Her favorite stroke is Breaststroke. As a babysitter, she has worked with children ranging in age from seven months to twelve years. Her favorite part about teaching swimming lessons is seeing her students overcome their fear of the water to achieve their swimming goals. Her hobbies include reading and staying active.

Nestor

Merida, Venezuela

Nestor learned how to swim when he was four years old, and his favorite strokes are freestyle and backstroke. He began swimming competitively at the age of fourteen, and his favorite events are the 50 meter and 100 meter freestyle. During his senior year of high school, Nestor volunteered as a teacher’s assistant and helped children with their homework and school projects. He enjoys teaching swimming lessons because he loves to watch his students’ growth in a new skill. Nestor currently attends De Anza College and is majoring in Industrial Engineering. A fun fact about Nestor is that he used to collect toy cars and foreign money!

Mexico City

Oscar began swimming at the age of eight when he began taking lessons. Oscar has worked with children of all ages. Most of his experience comes from babysitting during the past ten years. His favorite part about teaching swimming lessons is being able to see the growth and progress in each one of his students. In his free time he enjoys making music and playing drums.

San Jose

Paul swam competitively throughout high school and was able to help bring home three team medals for their C league. One of his favorite strokes is Butterfly and shis favorite events included the 100 yd Butterfly, 200 yd Medley and the 200 Individual Medley. Paul has worked with children of all ages. Before joining the Waterworks team, he worked for three summers at West Coast Aquatics where he helped students learn correct swimming strokes and movements. What he enjoys most about teaching swimming lessons is being able to get to know each one of his students and their specific needs, and helping them improve their swimming skills. Paul is currently attending San Jose City College where he is completely his general education. In his spare time he enjoys lifting weights, skating, swimming and hanging out with friends.

Samantha

San Jose

Samantha began swimming at a young age and she participated on her high school swim team for 3 years. Her favorite stroke is the Backstroke, and her favorite events are the 200 yard Freestyle and the 200 yard Medley. She gained experience working with children ages 4 to 12 previously as a swim instructor and as a babysitter for her family. Her favorite part about teaching swim lessons is interacting with her students and seeing their excitement when they learn something new. A few of Samantha’s hobbies include singing and swimming. An interesting fact about Samantha is she is currently studying American Sign Language.

Sophia learned how to swim at the age of two, swam competitively in high school, and enjoys all swim strokes and skills. Sophia gained experience working with children through babysitting since she was twelve years old. Her favorite thing about teaching swimming lessons is watching her students achieve a skill that they either didn’t think they could do or were afraid to do. A fun fact about Sophia is that she is a HUGE Disney fan, especially the movies with the Disney princesses.

Toni

San Jose

She learned how to swim at the age of 5 and has been swimming ever since. Her favorite event is the 50 yard Freestyle. Toni gained childcare experience as a lifeguard at Raging Waters. She has also worked as a babysitter for children of all ages. Her favorite part about teaching swim lessons is being able to teach a child a new skill and see their confidence and independence grow. Toni is currently studying Forensic Science at De Anza College. A few of Toni’s hobbies include riding her bike, going on hikes, and playing with her puppy. An interesting fact about Toni is she loves to watch cartoons.

Stockton

Wayland learned how to swim at the age of six and has enjoyed swimming ever since. One of his favorite aspects of teaching swimming is seeing his students learn new skills and continually improve. Having a child of his own has given him invaluable experience. Wayland is currently attending San Jose City College where he is studying Computer Science. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games, watching new movies and reading comics.

Yudeli

San Jose

She began swimming at age 7 and has enjoyed swimming ever since. Her favorite stroke is the Breaststroke. Yudeli gained experience working with children ages 5 to 9 as a volunteer at an elementary school. Her favorite part about teaching swim lessons is having fun with her students while teaching them a new skill. Yudeli is currently studying Marine Biology at De Anza College. A few of Yudeli’s hobbies include reading, playing video games, and making art. An interesting fact about Yudeli is her favorite movies are Finding Nemo and The Little Mermaid.

He began swimming when he was six months old and has swam recreationally ever since. His favorite stroke is Breaststroke. Zach gained experience working with children through babysitting his nephews. He enjoys making connections with his students and being able to work with them one-on-one. Zach attends West Valley College to focus on becoming a Firefighter! Zach loves super-hero movies and his favorite is the Avengers!
