Diamond Swim Team
Hey everyone beginning October 1st Waterworks Aquatics Carlsbad will be adding Diamond Swim Team! Available for kids 12 and younger this swim team will be held after school from 3:40 pm- 4:40 pm. Diamond Swim Team will be focusing on hands on instruction, conditioning, speed, lane etiquette, and also reading a lap clock! With a maximum of 24 swimmers per practice, focus and efficiency definitely comes into factor. As a great bonus the Monday/ Wednesday teams will be coached by Rebecca and the Tuesday/ Thursday teams will be coached by Lindsay who has an extensive background in competitive swimming. Coach Lindsay and Coach Rebecca also swam for the varsity swim team in high school in which they competed in various strokes at CIF Finals. We asked Coach Lindsay what some of her expectations are of the new Diamond Swim Team, she answered, "both Coach Rebecca and myself look forward to helping swimmers improve their strokes, times, and overall efficiency so they can perform at a more competitive level. The Diamond Swim Team will set up all swimmers for success as we feel that the practice structure that we are implementing is set to a high standard!"
Diamond swimmers will be grouped in separate lanes based off of their age, skill and conditioning and the coaches will run separate workouts for each level of swimmer at practice. A very vital requirement for this swim team is that your child must have a lesson schedule set for once a week at the very least to be on the team. The pricing goes as follows: for the M/W or T/Th teams it is $95.00 a month and for M-Th is $135.00 a month. If there are siblings enrolled in the swim teams there will be a 10% discount added to your monthly fee! Coach Rebecca has been with Waterworks Aquatics for over three years and has coached our Gold & Silver teams in the past. Rebecca participated in the CIF South Bay Section Division 3 finals in the 50m Breaststroke and prelims in the 200m IM, 200m Butterfly and 100m Butterfly events. Coach Lindsey currently has various students that are competing in higher level swim competitions, such as the Junior Olympics. Lindsay also has both a Varsity high school water polo and swimming background which ensures her ability to set up our young swimmers for success. Coach Lindsay was a very crucial asset to her water polo team as well as she helped lead them to becoming 3-time CIF San Diego Division One Champions. In addition to her involvement in Varsity swimming, she also participated in the CIF San Diego Section Division one prelims in the 200m Freestyle and the 100m Backstroke events.
